A Creepy Romantic Date (?) with Hubby

All dolled up in my spandex leggings and dry-fit shirt, equipped with a bottle of water, cross-body bag and a camera, I was primed to do a 1 or 2-mile walk as hubby go for his 5-mile run around the park. I was cool with that until he challenged me to walk the entire trail. That is 5 miles or over an hour of walking! I don't mind walking. PSH. But it's 12 minutes past eight in the EVENING. It's almost sundown. By the time we make it halfway the trail, it's going to be dark. Really really dark because there is no single lamp post here ... uh uh. Of course he would want me to walk with him here ... at the Valley Forge National Historical Park. It's where thousands of Washington's soldiers DIED. If people died here ... then there are ghosts here. He has gone MAD (lol).

I am no wuss. I said to myself why the hell not. I started walking and taking pictures (of course). It was a bit humid but I thought it won't be long before it starts to cool off a bit. I was kidding myself. If it did cool off, I never felt it. I was sweating the moment I first took a step and I was totally drenched when it was over.

Almost sundown at 8:13 pm

So hubby walked with me the first half mile or right after we reached the Memorial Arch when he made another revelation. He wanted to run. Bastard (lol)! At this point, the trail he'd run is shaped like a U. We are on one end of the U. Conveniently, we are standing right in front of a short cut that will lead to the other end of the U. It's the picnic area so it's a clear patch of land. He had a clear view of me as I strode through the short cut and I had a clear view of him as he made his way to me (aww).

Me at the short cut. I am sweating like a man...lol

I took a lot of shots hoping to get a good angle of myself but to no avail ... lol

When I reached the other end of the U, hubby was still 3 to 5 minutes away from me. The trail now veers to the left. If I go on walking, hubby will not be able to see me. I debated on whether to walk towards hubby or walk forward. I am no wuss ... lol ... so I went forward. To my right is a beautiful landscape of the park and to my left is the fenced forest side. That side is dark and creepy.

Hubby joining me. To his left is the forest side. My cam is in night snapshot so I'm not supposed to move but I moved hence the blurry pic.

Before hubby runs off again, I made him take my pic :D

and another :D

And the creepiness begins ...

Hubby said I captured his "soul" walking ahead of him (click the pick to make it larger)

To hubby's left is a firefly ... or something else :D

Somewhere here, a car passed by and honked his horn. Hubby, who was about 10 meters ahead, raised his arm and gave the driver "the finger". The car slowed down and we heard him yell "F--- YOU!". His car eventually stopped. We stopped and stared at the car. There was a good 100 meters between the car and us. I reached inside my bag and rested my hand inside (like I was holding a gun...lol). We stood there like me meant business. I believe he fell for it because he drove away. I was prepared to run for my life in case he backs up and confronts us...lol.

I don't even know what that is.

Someone's monument. Too dark to read whose.

I hoped and prayed that hubby was somewhere at the end of this trail waiting for me.

This area was so far the creepiest. There were trees on both sides of the trail and it was so dark. About a hundred meters before we got here, hubby was walking with me. When he saw this, he ran off. Grrrrrrr. It was kind of a relief to see him at the other side. I knew he wouldn't go that far. He was probably creeped out too ... hahaha.

Nothing creepy here. Those are headlights from cars. We're almost there!

There was supposed to be a monument at the far end of this path.

That's a church at the other side of the road.

Another monument

His legs are nicer than mine. Darn.

I think we're close. Just another more mile :C

We made it! We finished at 9:13 pm.

We made it out alive! I did not see a single ghost. No flying bug accidentally flew through my nose. Hubby was awesome. Overall, it was a thrilling and stimulating experience! I love my hubby ... best date ever :D
