No Gifts?

Yesterday was my birthday. The hubby went to work, the kids went to school - so it was just me and Dani. We left for the mall around noon since I first had to feed her breakfast and do the laundry (pre-soak the whites). Hubby told me to buy that ring I was bugging him about which cost around $300. So we went to Macy's to get it. They normally have this 50% off + 20% off sale but I was a week early for that so it was not a good idea to purchase anything at the time.

I went to the bags section and thankful that I did not find anything I like. I just can't stand Cs in the Coach bags and there's nothing interesting in Michael Kors' collection either. Plus, they are all expensive as well. Okay, I'm just kidding (but I'm serious with the Coach bags though). I found a lot I liked. I just can't get one because hubby really does not like me getting anymore bags. Men just cannot understand why women need lotsa bags. I walked towards the shoe section and the cutest pair of sandals I found was $224. Whoa! I can't spend that much on just a pair of sandals! I wish I can though. We then went downstairs to the juniors section to check the dresses. Yna mentioned about how everyone in school is wearing dresses. I saw some really pretty ones and they're only $24.99. Not bad. I'll get one when they go on sale :)

It was almost 1 pm so we left Macy's and drove to the other side of the mall. Sears answered my prayers. LOL. They were having this color coded jewelry sale and the ring I liked (1/4ct diamond in 14K white gold) was 70% off and I paid $127 for it. I was so happy! I headed to Forever 21 where I bought skinny jeans for only $12.50 and a tank top for only $2.50. Those are regular prices! Isn't that amazing? I love that store! They have really cheap but cute stuff. Dani had behaved well. Although she hated that I made a lot of stops (she said "MA" whenever I did), she didn't get cranky. Besides, she enjoyed looking at the purple (her favorite color) shirts and dresses.

At 2pm I was not hungry yet but I will be as soon as I'm out of the mall. I know Dani will not be hungry anytime soon because she was munching on her Cheerios the minute we got there. I stopped at the food court and bought a cajun chicken and blackened fish combo which Dani and I shared in the car while waiting for MJ and Yna to come out of school. The two arrived and our food got annihilated. It was gone in an instant the moment Yna stepped in the car.

I did not get any gifts from these kids! What an abomination! But in fairness, they both expressed their intent to give me one. Fair enough-LOL. Yna said she was trying to show me her "alleged" gift which was a drawing in her sketch pad when I rejected it (I asked her go to sleep) and she has $15 to split between me and her dad. MJ kept saying he will give his last $20 to me but that is all he did. So at home, I made them make me birthday cards. I said it does not have to be colorful and fancy. You know what? That is exactly what they did. LOL. It does not matter. I was just happy to get those cards like they used to when they were still really small.

The Very First Race

I'm so proud of my boys! They finally participated in the Fourth Annual Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-Mile Run. It was their first run and I'm certain that they're itching to participate in more runs. Hubby is actually looking at Havertown's 5K Run & Walk on the 25th and the King of Prussia 10 Miler on the 31st of May. Exciting huh!

Wini ran the challenging five-mile course through the scenic Valley Forge National Historical Park and MJ chose to do the 1-mile Youth Fun Run. MJ practiced (2-mile run) twice for this event with his dad just two weeks before the race so I was just so glad to see him finish it without collapsing [lol]. My Wini, on the other hand, has been serious about practicing for several months. If it is not freezing, if it did not rain or if his head did not hurt he'd make his 3x a week goal. But since winter had just passed, it always rains this spring and he gets unexplainable headaches, he skipped a couple of practices. He does not take that lightly though. If he can't run, he'd do a 30-minute workout at home. Well all his hard work paid off. He finished (chip time) the race at 51:20--his best so far [compared to his PR of 57:57 during practice).

Here are videos and pictures from the said event:
